How Botox® Cosmetic Treats Fine Lines

Botox Cosmetic is injected into the muscles of the forehead. Once it is injected, it blocks nerve impulses in the muscles of the forehead. Activity in the muscles is an underlying cause of wrinkles. Once the nerve activity in the muscles is blocked, the appearance of wrinkles on the skin's surface is reduced. The nerve impulses will be blocked for several months.

Post Procedure: What To Expect

Following your appointment for Botox Cosmetic, you are able to return to normal activities right away. You will start to see results within 24-48 hours. Full results should be seen after 14 days, and these results last an average of three to four months. The cosmetic improvement of Botox® Cosmetic is not permanent. If you enjoy the results and don't experience any negative side effects, you should consult Dr. Ward to schedule a follow-up appointment for another treatment. If you decide that Botox® Cosmetic is not right for you, the results will wear off and your appearance will return to normal.
